2 students die in separate train mishaps

Two students died in two separate train mishaps in Koyilandi and Thiruvangoor.

In the first incident, PK Anju, 19, second year BSc Physics student from Cheliyaa Ilahiyya Arts and Science College, was killed while crossing the railway line near Koyilandi railway station. Anju is daughter of Asokan and Sheeba from Panthalayani. She was hit by the Kozhikode-Kannur passenger. Anu is her brother.

Aslam, 18, son of Ismail and Subaida, died in a train mishap near Thiruvangoor. He was a plus two student and was hit by the train near his home. Muhammad Ijas is his brother.

With the removal of railway crossing in Old Muthambi road in Koyilandi, such mishaps are a regular affair. The number of accidents increased when railway closed the route used by pedestrians and did not build a footover bridge. When there is no other way, natives cross the rail line. Natives also protested near the railway station premises.
