Ananya talks about her passion for movies!

Ananya, who wooed the Tamil audience with her performance in the Kollywood movie Nadodigal, made news when she decided to tie the knot with Anjaneyan, who is apparently a divorce. However, the actress remains silent even when her personal life is discussed more than her professional life. The state-level archery champion is now back in the limelight after a hiatus with powerful characters in upcoming Malayalam movies Kalyanism and Reporter. In a candid chat with Kochi Times, Ananya talks about her passion for movies and sports, career choices and life after marriage.

I am very much here Who said I took a break from films? I am very much here. I believe in taking up only those projects that I am keen on doing. That’s it. Recently, I completed the shoot of two movies —Kalyanism and Reporter. In Kalyanism, I play the titular character, Kalyani, who is a housewife, settled in Dubai. It’s a family story based on a true incident that happened in Dubai. And in the movie Reporter, I play a reporter. However, it is not a lead role; Kailash and Abhinaya are playing the lead. In fact, I’m not in the race for lead roles. I take up roles that give me scope to perform.

Life after marriage I am happy and content in my life. Anjaneyan ettan is very supportive. Recently, he gifted me a Tibetan breed puppy and I named her Honey. She accompanies me wherever I go. He never interferes when it comes to films. All that he has told me is to be careful while choosing films. He wants me to portray good roles.

Tryst with archery It was in 2012 that I participated in an archery championship for the last time. I won gold medal at the tournament and qualified for the National Archery Championship. But owing to my hectic film schedules, I had to take a break from the sport. After a long time, I got an opportunity to participate in an archery event recently. It was during a film shoot that I came to know about the competition. I didn’t get enough time to practice and was a bundle of nerves. Though this was the first time I tried my hand at the Indian recurve bow event, I attained the desired target points. Now, I’m planning to pursue my dual passions — acting and archery.

Kollywood calling I have been hearing scripts for a while, but have not signed any projects yet. Right from the start, I was very selective about Tamil films. Luckily, all the films fared well at the box office. I don’t want to sign all the movies coming my way and regret about them later. I’m ready to wait for the right roles.
