In yet another incident of rash driving reported from a campus in Kerala, a girl student was critically injured after she was hit by a bike inside DB college in Sasthamkotta on Tuesday evening.
Second year degree student Saina has been admitted to a private hospital after she suffered head injuries in the accident. Eye witnesses said that the bike involved in the accident was speeding.
Sasthamkotta Police have begun probe into the incident. On August 19, a girl was run over during Onam celebrations at the College of Engineering College (CET) Trivandrum. Following which, strict regulations were in place over the entry of vehicles inside campuses across Kerala.
Even the Kerala High Court ruled in favour of the government’s decision to ban bikes and colleges inside the campus, observing that vehicles should not be a disturbance for students attending classes.
The government had appointed a special panel to study the presence of vehicles in the campuses. The panel submitted its report last month pointing out that strict regulations were needed to restrict the entry of vehicles inside the campuses.
