Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday informed the State Governor that the budget presentation by Finance Minister K.M. Mani was constitutional.
The Chief Minister met Governor P. Sathasivam in person in the wake of the Opposition complaining to the Governor that the budget presentation was not according to the rules of the House.
The Chief Minister also informed the Governor of the untoward incidents happened in the Assembly on the budget day. “What happened in the House was highly unfortunate. As the head of the House, I’m deeply pained by the incident,” Chandy said.
LDF leaders had on Friday met the Governor and sought a direction to the government to present the budget in the assembly as per rules. They also wanted the budget to be presented again by another minister and demanded Mani’s resignation.
