CITU demands a comprehensive inquiry into the death of V. Shaseendran

PALAKKAD: The Malabar Cements Limited Employees Union, affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), in a letter to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, here on Sunday, demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the death of V. Shaseendran, former company secretary of Malabar Cements Limited (MCL), and his two sons.

The letter by union general secretary K. Rajan said there were many doubts in the minds of people. Sasheendran was a key witness in the ongoing vigilance inquiries into various deals at MCL. The death should be thoroughly inquired into, the CITU letter said.

The complaint by the wife of the deceased that her husband was threatened by a contractor should be taken seriously, the letter said.The CITU had urged the Chief Minister to inquire into the role of the Managing Director of the company in forcing a ‘sincere officer to quit his job.’ The union urged the Chief Minister to ensure a safe working space for upright officers.
