Contradictory statements from actor Dileep might have prompted the police to interrogate his wife Kavya Madhavan in connection with the highway attack on an actress. The investigating officers, however, would not confirm this. The police said that they would record the statements of Kavya, her mother Shyamala, director Lal and P.T. Thomas, MLA, before they wind up the investigation. The actress had sought refuge in Lal’s house at Kakkanad soon after she was released from a brief captivity on February 17. The local legislator had visited her in Lal’s house.
The police arrested Dileep on Monday for plotting the attack. He is accused of hiring a group of thugs to torment the actress and videotape her suffering. The actor will be produced before the Angamaly magistrate’s court on Friday after two days of police custody. The police have asked the court to extend the custody of the actor, the second accused in the case. The court will also go through his bail application.
Dileep’s counsel has completed his argument on the bail plea but the police are likely to oppose the application citing the influence the actor wields in society. Meanwhile, the police have sent a list of questions to two MLAs and an advocate who are suspected to have helped the accused evade the police net so far. Pratheesh Chacko, who represented main accused Sunil Kumar (Pulsar Suni) in the initial stage of the case, is suspected to have hidden his client’s mobile phone, a crucial piece of evidence.
The police plan to interrogate each of the witnesses who tried to cover up Dileep’s role in the case.
Dileep was taken to various places in Ernakulam and Thrissur district over the past two days in a bid to retrace the course of the conspiracy to attack the actress. He was subjected to another round of interrogation at the Aluva Police Club after the collection of evidence.
