French honour for Ulaganayagan

Kamal Haasan

Only recently Kamal Haasan became the first south Indian actor to speak at the Harvard University. Now, the Ulaganayagan has been bestowed with another international honour — the Henri Langlois Award — for his contribution to cinema. The award is instituted after celebrated French film archivist Henri Langlois, who had been honoured with an honorary Oscar in 1974.

“Received the Henri Langloise award in Paris. Wish Ananthu sir my guru had been alive to hear this. Heard of Langloise only through him,” (sic) the actor tweeted. It can be recalled that Ananthu was late director K Balachander’s close associate.
Meanwhile, Kamal is also gearing up for his next film with his daughter Shruti Haasan which will kickstart this summer in the city.
