Home Department has failed to stop terrorist activities in the State: SJ(D)

PALAKKAD: State president of the Socialist Janata (Democratic) M.P. Veerendrakumar has said the “Home Department has failed to stop terrorist activities in the State because of the tacit understanding the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) had with some of the outfits during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.”

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Mr. Veerendrakumar said the recent seizure of large quantities of explosives and arms in different parts of the State showed that there was no effective functioning of intelligence wings of the Police Department.

At Edakkad in Kannur district, a large quantity of arms was unearthed. In Kannur, the CPI(M) was engaged in storing explosives and arms. A party MLA’s son was injured in an explosion. But nothing was heard about the case now. “The CPI(M) is using the police for covering up these cases to protect party men. All these had led to the increased activities of militant groups and organisations in Kerala,” he alleged.

He said the CPI(M) had open political alliance with the PDP of Abdul Nasir Maudany, Jamaat-e-Islami and the NDF in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. “Now it is forced to take action against the NDF after helping it grow in the State,” Mr. Veerendrakumar said.
