Kozhikode: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy said here on Tuesday that Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac was scared of facing a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the lottery scam in the State.
Speaking to presspersons, the Congress leader said the Left Democratic front (LDF) government and the Finance Minister had been vociferously demanding a CBI probe into the lottery scandal for the past four-and-a-half years. Now Dr. Isaac had changed his stance although the issue involved other States and Bhutan.
He said the United Democratic Front (UDF) did not have any opposition to the CBI widening the scope of the probe by including the lottery dealings during the Congress-led regime from 2001 to 2006.Mr. Chandy, however, said the UDF did not support the views of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on the lottery scam. Earlier he had said that the culprits would be brought to book, but nothing had come forth all these years, he said.
