The cyber wing of the Kerala Police on Saturday registered a case in connection with the fake news about Jagathy Sreekumar that claimed the Malayalam film actor had died.
The fake news was circulated widely on WhatsApp with a photoshoped image of Jagathy Sreekumar and claimed that the actor had died due to cardiac arrest. It even claimed that the last rites of the actor would be held on Saturday.
Miscreants had used Manorama News logo and watermark to spread the fake news. The case was registered following complaints from Manorama News and Jagathy’s family.
Jagahty’s son, Rajkumar, said that he was saddened by the fake news. Jagathy himself had come to know of the fake news and was hurt by it, Rajkumar added. The family is set to take strict legal actions.
