A sensational murder case from the 90s has returned to haunt Kerala after the Indian High
commission in Malaysia circulated the photograph of an unknown woman who died falling from abuilding in Subang Jaya Selangor, the Malaysian suburb.
The photograph, reportedly of a Payyannur native, Dr Omana, who was accused of killing and hackingup her boyfriend into pieces in Ootty, was being circulated by the High Commission for identification.
The High Commission had circulated the photograph through newspapers in Kerala. Readers hadreportedly identified the woman from these photographs and reported to the police, who then initiatedan investigation to confirm the identity of the dead woman.
Dr Omana had poisoned and killed her boyfriend Muraleedharan, also from Payyannur, in Ootty.She had then reportedly hacked up the body and stuffed it into a suitcase and hired a taxi to transportthe body.
The driver of the taxi had grown suspicious and reported the matter to the police who intercepted DrOmana, bringing the murder to light.
Dr Omana, who was arrested in 1996, had reportedly escaped from the country, while she was out onbail in 2001 using a fake passport.
