Kozhikode: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy alleged here on Wednesday that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan was boasting the success of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala by taking credit for the schemes pioneered by the Union government.
Addressing a ‘Meet-the Leader’ programme of the Press Club, the Opposition leader said the Kerala government had hardly any achievements to its credit.According to Mr. Chandy, it was the Union government that utilised the scope of the Debt Relief Commission to write off the arrears of farmers.
During the last four-year term, the LDF had waived only a meagre amount of Rs.48 crore, he said.Mr. Chandy pointed out that the support price of paddy had been raised from Rs.7 to Rs.11 by the Union government. The State government later increased it by Rs.2 and took the credit for the entire price hike.
