Mammootty is a Kabaddi fan
Cracking memorable one-liners in the much popular achayan accent comes naturally to megastar Mammootty. Such hit characters of the actor are testimonies to the same. In his upcoming project with director Johny Antony, Mammootty is gearing up to portray such a role, yet again.
The director says, “Mammukka’s character in the film, Thoppil Joppan, is a naadan person. His role has the elements of humour and heroism. His look is typical of a person from Kattappana area of the State, and the costumes would be dhoti, shirt, et al. He speaks the area-specific accent, is crazy about kabbadi and is also part of a kabaddi team, the Thopramkudy kabaddi team.”
So, will Mammootty be playing the sport in the film? “He might,” the director hints, explaining that the aspect of camaraderie is an important part of the story’s premise. “There is also a humorous love track running through the plot, which provides fodder for comic situations in the film,” Johny adds.
The movie is scripted by Nishad Koya and has Vidyasagar scoring the music. While actresses including Deepti Sati and Andrea Jeremiah are speculated to be the leading ladies of the project, the director says the cast list does not stand confirmed, as of now. “We have time and are planning to start the shoot by April this year,” the director signs off.
