New Delhi: Minorities and other deprived sections have lost their faith in the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Front government in West Bengal and they voted for parties opposing its “anti-people” policies, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) chief and central minister E.Ahamed Thursday said.

Congratulating Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ahamed, who is also her deputy in the ministry, said the Trinamool Congress’s civic poll victory in the state is “a victory of justice”.”It is the expression of anguish of minorities and deprived sections against the misrule of the CPM. They have lost faith in the CPM and their alliance,” Ahamed said.

In municipal elections held across West Bengal Sunday, the Trinamool snatched the prestigious Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) from the Left and also trounced the Marxists in scores of 80 other municipalities.Showering praises on Banerjee, Ahamed said: “For Mamata, this is a big recognition for her ceaseless fight against the Marxists.”
