Congress vicepresident Rahul Gandhi was detained by the Delhi police again Thursday as he led a party protest march in the national capital over the suicide of former soldier Ram Kishan Grewal, who killed himself demanding implementation of One Rank One Pension. He was released later.
Rahul Gandhi was taken away from Jantar Mantar in a police vehicle.
However, the police allowed him to go later but Gandhi insisted that the cops take him to a police station, reports said.
Speaking on the incident, Gandhi said, “We were told that we were removed because of Section 144.” Congress leader Ajay Maken said, “We don’t know what the police want.”
Slamming the Delhi police, BJP ally Shiv Sena termed the action of the cops as ‘condemnable and shameful’. Gandhi was detained twice by Delhi police Wednesday. He was let go later in both occasions. Earlier in the day, Grewal was cremated in his village in Haryana in the presence of hundreds of people including Rahul Gandhi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
