Pathankot attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have found that the man detained in connection with the Pathankot Air Force base attack is a Keralite. The arrested man who had introduced himself as Riyas, was later found to be Dineshan, a native Mananthavady, Wayanad district. He was nabbed from a lodge in Musafir located near Pathankot.

The police had raided several lodges near Pathankot on the day of the terror attack on the Air Force base. Riyas, who was held along with five Maldives nationals, was thoroughly probed after several calls made from his phone were traced to Pakistan. Moreover, the name that he revealed was also found to be suspicious.

After a detailed investigation it was found that Riyas was Mananthavady native Dineshan. Further, the IB handed over details to the Kerala Police and Mananthavady Police were asked to inquire about Dineshan.

According to police report, Dineshan had left for Saudi Arabia after he was arrested in a case related to brewing of arrack. The IB and State intelligence findings assumed that he might have been converted to Islam and became Riyas.

He is currently in the custody of IB and NIA officials. His father is a worker in Mananthavady tea estate. Dineshan was having no contact with his family for the past thirteen years. The police are collecting local information pertaining to Dineshan following instructions from IB.
