Pushpa Mathew`s tribal girl character
Model-turned-actress Pushpa Mathew had no clue what she was in for when she was invited to be a part of Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s latest movie.
“It was Anil sir who introduced me to films through North 24 Kaatham, so I had no second thoughts on taking up his offer. But when I was told that I will be having minimal costumes on me, I was scared,” she says. But her fears were unfounded, as she soon realised that she will be playing a tribal girl.
“I got a shock on seeing myself so de-glam, but ended up loving my costume, an off- shoulder wrap,” says Pushpa, who plays the tribal girl Ponni in the film. “Ponni is someone who doesn’t bother about the caste segregation in the tribal hamlet and talks to everyone equally,” she says.
Pushpa, who completed her fashion designing course from Delhi, models for print and TV ads but says she would like to take on films in parallel. “I have been getting some offers, but it is too soon to announce anything. All I can say is I’m trying to put on weight for my next role,” she signs off.
