M.K.R. Pillai, who was working as a traffic consultant with the Nagaland police, has been removed from the post after Income Tax officials raided his Sreevalsam Group and seized huge amounts of unaccounted money. Nagaland DGP L.L. Doungel told Manorama News that the action was taken after IT raids revealed that he had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of incomes.
Pillai, who hails from Pandalam in Pathanamthitta, started his career as a constable in the Nagaland police in the 70s and retired as additional SP. Since then he had been working as a consultant with the police.
Since June 8, IT sleuths had reportedly stumbled upon huge amounts of unaccounted wealth during raids in various offices of the Sreevalsam Group in 30 locations across four states in the country.
Pillai was in charge of vehicle movement of the Nagaland police. A heavyduty truck of the police was spotted in front of the Kerala office of the group recently. Sources said Pillai managed to evade scrutiny at checkposts by deftly using policemarked vehicles for personal wealth amassment.
