Rima Kallingal to dance for Chennai flood relief
Rima Kallingal, who has been part of the charity initiative #AnboduKochi’s relief efforts for the flood-affected in Chennai, has gone a step ahead.
The dancer and actress will be donating the entire proceeds of a dance workshop she will be conducting today, towards the flood relief. The reason behind the decision, she says, is a first-hand account of the floods she received from two of her dance instructors. “I had got to know the stories of the floods only through social media. But when I heard about it from our dance instructors Bonney and Padmavani, I was shell shocked. Bonney teaches Salsa, while Padmavani is a Kuchippudi instructor. Both of them are from Chennai and used to visit us every month to conduct classes. In the floods, both of them lost everything they had earned so far. I didn’t know how to respond when they said this,” she says.
The most amazing development, she says, is that while everyone expected the instructors to cancel classes for a while, Bonney insisted that he will come over, and that is how the workshop will be on. Actors Poornima Indrajith and Parvathy, some of the founders and core members of the #AnboduKochi team, will also be part of the initiative.
