New Delhi: The Supreme Court Wednesday dismissed the review petition filed by Kerala Congress (B) leader and former state minister R. Balakrishnapillai in the Edamalayar case.The petition of another convict in the case, P.K. Sajeevan, was also dismissed by the court.
The petition of former KSEB chairman Ramabhadran Nair, who was also convicted in the case, will be considered Thursday.The decision on the review petition was taken by the same Bench comprising of Justices P. Sadasivam and B.S. Chawan, that awarded one year rigorous imprisonment for all three accused.
Another petition filed by Balakrishna Pillai, seeking the review petition in an open court was rejected by the court in the morning.Pillai’s main contention was that there were many factual and legal errors as well as unconstitutional elements in the verdict.
