Shashi Tharoor commented that the BJP has already lost by making the decision
Cricketer Sreesanth will be contesting in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, as the BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram.
Sreesanth had earlier told us that all three leading parties of Kerala had approached him. But interestingly, the decision to choose Sreesanth as the contestant was made from the centre and not by the state leaders of BJP, who were taken by surprise at the decision.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor commented that the BJP has already lost by making the decision. “I think this is quite amusing because it suggests that the BJP has already given up any hope of that seat. Let’s face it… Thiruvananthapuram is a place where you have an educated electorate. Kerala generally has not been a hospitable ground for celebrity candidates, sportsmen, actors. But particularly a place in Trivandrum central, which is the constituency; there are a lot of educated people, government officials, bureaucrats and so on,” he said.
