In a new revelation in the infamous solar scam that plagued the Oommen Chandy-led UDF government of Kerala, it has emerged that the Attakulangara women jail superintendent produced a corrected jail register in front of the commission investigating the case.
The solar commission said that the jail authorities failed in maintaining records after it was revealed that the top official of the prison presented a visitor’s register with corrections and pages torn off. The probe panel has expressed displeasure over the same.
Sources say that visitors were allowed to the jail before and after the permissible timings. Prime accused Saritha’s mother and her relative Adarsh had come to the jail a day before she changed her statement in the court. In the register, the time when they visited Saritha has been corrected.
The details of visits of Saritha’s lawyers – advocate Feni Balakrishnan and advocate Babuleyan – have also been changed using a whitener.
The jail DIG had also visited the Attakulangara jail before Saritha changed her stance in the case. The DIG made the visit claiming that it was a pilot visit before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)’s visit to the prison. However, it has been proved that the NHRC officials did not make a visit to the jail.
