State unit of the Congress has welcomed decision on Singhvi

Thiruvananthapuram: The State unit of the Congress has welcomed the party central leadership’s decision to restrain All India Congress Committee spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi from holding media briefings in the context of a row over his appearance in a lottery case in the Kerala High Court which embarrassed the party unit.Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac, however, dubbed it as a ‘mere face-saving step.”

‘‘We are glad that the central leadership has saved the pride of the Congress workers in Kerala,” said party MLA V.D. Satheesan, who raised alleged corruption and irregularities in the operation of out-of-State lotteries in the Assembly. The issue has been taken up as a key theme by the party against the Left Democratic Front government in the ongoing local body poll campaign.
