There will be clear evidence that VS Achutanandan involved in lottery issue: Chennithala

Kottayam: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala has said if the government is not going to institute a judicial or CBI probe into the lottery issue, there will be clear evidence that chief minister V S Achutanandan involved in the issue.

Addressing a meet the press programme here today, Chennithala said the decision to accept advance tax from lottery operators would help the interests of lottery tycoon Santiago Martin. The government with an appeal can move supreme court for a stay, he said, adding lotteries of other states had earned highest profits in CPI(M) ruled states like West Bengal and Kerala.

He said the statement of Achutanandan that there were shortcomings on the part of the government in lottery issue as suggested by UDf proved right “Accepting guilt is not the panacea, action be taken against Martin”, he said.
