Unni Mukundan turns social activist in Bhagmati
Unni Mukundan, who debuted with the Mohanlal-starrer Janatha Garage in Telugu, has already been working on his second project Bhagmati, directed by G Ashok. Unni plays a social activist in the film, which has Anushka Shetty as the female lead.
Director Ashok says, “Unni plays the character named Shakti, who did his MBA in Australia. To do something for his country, he leaves his job and comes to India. He works towards ensuring education for kids who are not able to attend schools. His words also become the strength for a group of villagers in a critical situation, in the movie.”
The filmmaker is so impressed with Unni that he is planning to do one more project with the actor, soon after wrapping up Bhagmati! “He is an extraordinary artiste and a wonderful human being. Even Anushka is quite impressed with his work ethics and acting skills,” Ashok says.
The movie also has Jayaram and Asha Sarath from Malayalam among its cast, and both of them play key roles in the film, the director says. Hyderabad is the main location of the movie, and its shoot is nearing completion, with a few more days of filming left in January.
