CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday sought to know the reason why Prime Minister Narendra Modi opted against sharing the dais with Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a function to which the PM was officially invited by the CM. In his Facebook post, Pinarayi Vijayan said that people in Kerala are eager to know what secret evidence the Centre received that it led to the disqualification of the Chief Minister from attending the function.
“It was Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who had officially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the ceremony of unveiling the statute of former Chief Minister R. Sankar.
What is the reason behind the prime minister’s decision to keep the same chief minister away from the function?,” Pinarayi wrote on his Facebook page. “The whole State is anxious to know what secret evidence the Centre has got to prove the disqualification of the CM.
The prime minister, who marked Chandy as an untouchable, will be now sharing the dais with an accused in the microfinance irregularities case,” Pinrayi added. “While Oommen Chandy kept on insulting Kerala, Vellappally Natesan is denigrating SNDP’s spiritual leader Sree Narayana Guru. The followers of Guru should come forward to expose Vellappally Natesan, who plays dirty games using the name of Sree Narayana Guru, and to ostracise the RSS, which is implementing its communal agenda under the veil of Vellappally,” Pinarayi exhorted in the post.
“It is the weakness of the UDF government in taking legal action against Vellappally’s campaign for communal rift that has worsened the situation in the State,” Pinarayi said and concluded his Facebook post with a reminder that Chandy is now paying the price for capitulating to communalism and its foibles.
Chandy said on Saturday that while protocol required his presence at a function attended by the prime minister, he was not taking part because ‘the organisers who invited me requested me to stay away’.
