Why Actor Jayaram got attacked

Malayalam Actor Jayaram’s comment that his servant maid is a ‘fat, dark Tamilian… similar to a bufffalo’ has hurt the Tamilians. The actor, who plays a role in a Malayalam film, where he falls for his house maid, was questioned in a recent interview if it had happened in his real life. Jayaram replied that in real life, his house maid looked like a buffalo.

This seems to have irked the Tamilians, particularly those belonging to the film industry. Director Thangar Bachan had planned a demonstration in front of Jayaram’s house until he issues an apology.

Meanwhile, Jayaram had said that he regrets speaking those words. He added that was dialogue that he used in the film. The actor, who said that he is a Tamilian in the first place, also apologized with folded hands for hurting the sentiments of Tamil women.

  1. Basically Malayalam film Industry used to critizise Tamil industry and people because of their inferiority complex who unable to survive in Indian film Industry and Other than Kerala. They are mentally handicapped people.

  2. I am a malayalee, the choice of word’s used by Mr Jayaram,in whatever context is very much unfortunate. As an established actor,he could have used the word’s more carefully, when he is using it as reference to an ethnic group.Though,he might not have anticipated the outrage,by the people in tamil-nadu,but the reality it is indeed offensive. It’s good that Mr jayaram had apologised,so the issue can be brought to a closure.

  3. Dear Palzhi raja,

By the way both rajnikanth and kamalahassan had acted in more hindi movies than mohanlal ,mammoty, suresh gopi, dileep, jayaram put together. But I do see your point though, there are stereotype role’s which “MGR” does might only find favour’s with people
    in tamil-nadu

  4. Mr. Jayaram’s comment was that his House maid is a adark, fat Tamilian. Any humour minded persons can think that, he never deliberately made this comment to hrut anybody. If A HOUSE MAID IS DARK, FAT – THIS DO NOT MEAN THAT ALL HOUSE MAIDS ARE DARK & FATTY – AND MAIDS ARE ONLY from TAMILNADU. These are unnecessary criticisms. Those who are asking for apology and further something – are really have an inferiority complex and they themselves are doubtful of their personality. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT 80% OF THE FILMS MADE IN INDIA are PRODUCED IN TAMIL NADU . Also Majority of the people have respect for Tamilians and know that what Taimilians are and can be.

  5. It is truly unfortunate that people are making so much out of a non-issue. I don’t think Mr Jayaram had meant what he said – what the Tamil People have projected as a great humiliation-about the tamilians. He had no intention to downgrade or humiliate the so-called proud tamilians. Malayalees definitely have respect for their fellow citizens. The first comment regarding MENTALLY handicapped people has come from a frustrated individual. Come on yar behave like Indians.. after all we are Indians, Tamil, Malayalam .. brouhaha is not at all called for ..

  6. its not a question of indian or something but jayaram already has an instinct to humiliate everyon with mimicking them its not actually fit to be called as mimicking but its so pervertly trying making others humiliate that its not fit to be called as casual humour. no comedy can be called as comedy if it hurts somebodys feelings and their innerself or self esteem there r other ways for healthy humour not by making fun of others.so its no fit to justify his act in tis situation.

  7. Jayaram might have apologised, and he remarked it was a dialogue in a malayalam film, so its obvious that, people of kerala have a general ill perception of tamilian looks. yes might be tamils may not have that great enough personality, does it gives a license to speak ill about them. shame on you Jayaram and those people who carry that in their mind.
